Where to start? We were initially looking in the Hudson Valley, but not specifically Newburgh. Chris has to be one of Newburgh's strongest advocates and it wasn't long before we were sold, literally and figuratively, on living there. His knowledge of historic homes was very helpful as were familiarized ourselves with the area. There were bumps along the way–a deal where the seller decided last minute not to sell, a switch to Chris from a ethical agent from across the river, and more, and Chris handled everything in stride and helped us find a place that made sense for us. One of the qualities we most liked about working with Chris was how quickly he took in our specific wants and needs. Never did it feel like he was steering us to properties he thought were suited to us just because he knew they were for sale or because our purchase would mean a higher commission versus if we bought a better-suited, but expensive home. In this crazy COVID market, I believe Chris has his finger on the pulse for home selling/buying in Newburgh and the Hudson Valley. My home was beautifully presented (in photos and description) and listed at a price I was happy with. The viewings were well organized and offers scrutinized closely to get us the best buyer. On the buying side, it's a pleasure to check out homes with Chris because he has a great vision for properties and enthusiasm for seeing their potential. It made the experience fun for the most part. Chris was great at managing relationships and keeping the deals going when things got sticky. I learned lots about real estate working with Chris and would highly recommend him for a quality home selling/buying experience.

I highly recommend Chris Hanson. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of Newburgh in particular, and, in general, is well informed and up to date on real estate in the Hudson Valley. He knows houses. He is upfront and honest if he spots problem areas, and offers valuable advice and insights, drawing on his extensive experience. He has the qualities you want in a realtor: He is skillful, ethical, and personable. My search took a long time, as I lived in another state and made periodic visits to look at properties. He was very patient!

One year before our house sold, we asked Chris to help us prepare. He made many valuable suggestions, big and small. He understands and loves older homes and knows what's requires to sell one. We followed his advice to the letter. A year later, he took beautiful photos for the listing and the house sold quickly. Betweeen the original listing and the closing, Chris was patient and helpful, keeping us informed of the process involved witht he sale, spending much time on our behalf. He is cheerful, intelligent, and knows all the twists and turns involved in a real estate transaction.

We hit the jackpot when we found Chris. I was a real estate agent in Brooklyn, New York, looking to relocate to Newburgh, NY, and I think Chris is one of the most talented agents I've met. Chris selected the best properties on the market in our range and spent a lot of time with us, showing us around Newburgh and educating us about the history, challenges and possibilities of this emerging creative hotspot on the Hudson. His ability to evaluate and represent the pros and cons of a property is top notch. It was like being with an historian, contractor, urban planner and real estate agent rolled into one (which is, I think, the case). Chris' love for this city, deep historical knowledge, construction expertise from his previous life as a contractor/restorer and his years of activism in the renewal of the City of Newburgh made working with him a thorough and fascinating education. He is very personable and is a skilled negotiator, represented us very well when it came time to negotiate our offer, and was a stalwart advocate for us through a bumpy closing process. He has remained an unstinting source of guidance (we now actually live across the street from him), and we will always be grateful to him for helping us find and secure our beautiful home.

I’ve known Chris Hanson for about five years; we are both musicians and regularly perform together. Chris has impressed me many times with his deep knowledge of local real estate: he can speak knowledgeably about the history of local neighborhoods and properties, and as someone with a passion for restoring historic homes, he is full of useful advice about the unrealized potential of a property that most wouldn’t see. He was, as a result, my very first call when I began to think about buying a house. As a realtor, Chris was extraordinarily helpful and professional. His communication was excellent, and he promptly responded to emails and phone calls throughout the process. He was very straightforward about the condition of properties we toured, and he was unafraid to identify potential problems that he noticed. Given his background in restoration, he was also very good at putting these problems in perspective: he could tell me what was a relatively easy fix, and what could end up being a dealbreaker. As a first-time home buyer, I definitely appreciated his insights into each property, and into the home-buying process in general. He made an intimidating and stressful process much less scary, and helped me buy a house I’m still very happy with. I would certainly work with him again, and I recommend him highly.

Like buying a car buying a house can be a nerve wracking adventure. Would that we could live in a world where most people were less "out for themselves" and more interested in doing the right thing. Thankfully there are still people like this out there...
As a first time homebuyer having Chris Hanson involved was very helpful. He was generous with his time, explaining the various steps involved in the process well before they came up. He revealed the concerns of the seller so I could prepare to address those and he was an excellent guide in general, clear in all his communications with me and extremely helpful in understanding what to expect buying a historic home in the City of Newburgh. Even after the closing (when there is nothing more to "gain") he continues to help me. I don't come across people of his caliber very often.

Chris is a dream to work with. His attention to detail and local knowledge helped my wife and I greatly when looking for our first home. He knows the business extremely well and unlike other agents places reasonable expectations on pricing and timing with regards to the offer and closing process. Chris was extremely helpful and knowledgable. He is easy to get a hold of and quick to respond to any of my questions and comments I had throughout the home buying process. Being a first time buyer this helped a lot. Having a background in renovation and also flipping homes his eye for detail really helped when looking at a property. We were able to walk thru a home and he could tell when an owner had maintained a property or just cleaned it up to sell. I also appreciated his honesty as we wouldn't just sugar coat it and could tell you what would need to be fixed or changed if needed. I have and will continue to reccomend Chris to anyone looking for a good real estate agent.

We bought a single family home in the town of Newburgh. Working with Chris was great. He was very knowlegable about the area and helped us to pinpoint the exact location we wanted to be. He was very patient with us while we narrowed our search and encouraged us to think outside the box. He used his great negotiating skills to get us the best price for our house and was there every step of the way to closing. He was a great resource in finding us an attorney for closing as well. We would definitely recommend using Chris for all your real-estate needs.

Chris was wonderful to work with. He is a historian of the Newburgh area so we learned much about the history (interesting facts, stories, aspects) that became an important part of knowing that we wanted to be in the city of Newburgh. Chris also knows a lot about construction and the workings of a house. This is very helpful when looking through a house and questions arise. Chris spent an entire day with our house inspector and us, a time consuming day of looking at every fold in the house. He didn't have to be there, but he was supportive and present through the ordeal. All of the people he recommended: the inspector, the lawyer, the carpenter have all been smart and responsive people as well and great to work with. At one point, I had a bit of a meltdown about it all. His counsel was wise and grounded and quite supportive. I cannot more highly recommend Chris.

Chris Hanson was a pleasure to work with. He was different from other Agents I've worked with in that he was responsive, respectful to my needs and extremely patient. He is knowledgeable about the hudson valley and the differences between the communities. I relied on Chris' judgement and expertise in assisting me through the extremely stressful and complicated process of buying a home. This was my first home buying experience and I truly believe that Chris' approach took the sting out of the process...
I also found that Chris was extremely helpful with community resources, ie. banks, contractors, painters, finishers, etc....

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with Chris for the purchase of our first home. As young newlyweds, we were nervous and knew little about the process but were eager to buy. In all three instances he was courteous, diplomatic and made sure the deals happened in a professional manner.
